Elba Morales joined the Centro Legal de la Raza team in 2019. As the Director of Development and Communications, she leads private fundraising efforts, which includes launching annual campaigns and engaging private donors. Prior to joining Centro Legal, Elba served as Director of Development for a permanent supportive housing agency in Contra Costa County. In two years, Elba significantly increased private fundraising. She also led a variety of successful fundraising campaigns, and managed an annual gala that netted $240,000 (annual average).
Born in the Bay Area and raised in East Oakland, Elba earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Patten University in Oakland and completed her Master of Arts degree in Systematic and Philosophical Theology at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. She serves on the Board for ALDES (La Oficina de Asistencia Legal para la Diversidad Sexual de El Salvador), a legal advocacy organization that advocates for LGBTQ legislative rights in El Salvador; and the Advisory Board for Radically Fit, a for-profit community gym for queer people of color.
