IMMIGRANTS’ RIGHTS GROUP

Mario Alvarado Cifuente

Paralegal

As a paralegal in the Immigration Program, Mario focuses on ensuring Centro can meet the needs of the immigrant community through pro bono partnerships and opportunities with law firms in San Francisco. Mario’s efforts include coordinating adjustment of status and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) clinics. Before joining Centro Legal, Mario was a DreamSF Fellow at Legal Services for Children (LSC) where he was responsible for assisting with DACA applications and Know Your Rights presentations.

Prior to entering the workforce, Mario volunteered extensively with non profit organizations in the Bay Area. He assisted doctors at the Concord RotaCare Clinic, supported attorneys at East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, and worked with the SF Pathways to Citizenship Initiative. Mario’s drive to help the immigrant community is fueled by his experience immigrating to the United States at the age of eight from Retalhuleu, Guatemala. Mario received his Associate of Arts in Political Science from Diablo Valley College and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
